By reducing the amount of energy required to operate
your facility you are contributing to the conservation of precious
natural resources. Electric power is produced through the burning
of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, natural gas or through nuclear
fission.
All of these methods produce pollution. By conserving energy you are conserving natural resources and reducing pollution. The most common method of producing electrical power is through the burning of coal. When coal is burned, the air is polluted. Two of the pollutants are Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Sulfur Dioxide (SO2). Carbon Dioxide is a key contributor to the greenhouse effect and possible global warming. By conserving energy, you help postpone the need to construct new Nuclear or Coal fired plants. |
